Softkinetic-Optrima

The Softkinetic-Optrima strategic alliance was launched in September 2009 to provide the Interactive Digital Entertainment and Consumer Electronics markets with the most advanced, integrated and complete 3D gesture recognition solution. This includes the iisu™ 3D gesture recognition middleware, the DepthSense™ 3D time-of-flight sensor and the OptriCam™ family of 3D imagers. The Softkinetic-Optrima solution is complemented by world-class expertise in developing 3D gesture-based applications for the Interactive Digital Entertainment and Consumer Electronics markets.

Softkinetic

Softkinetic was founded in 2007 following five years of R&D by a team of mathematicians, 3D imaging experts, software engineers and game enthusiasts. Their objective was to revolutionize the way people interact with digital content and interfaces. Since then Softkinetic has become the leader in natural interfaces, providing 3D, full-body, real-time, gesture recognition software platforms, tools and applications.

Softkinetic has enjoyed significant success, growing steadily and building an impressive international client list of forward-looking companies in the fields of Interactive Digital Entertainment, Serious Games, Interactive Marketing, Health & Fitness and Consumer Electronics. With sales that continue to increase each year, Softkinetic is truly an entrepreneurial success story.

Optrima

A spin-off of the Electronics and Informatics Department of the VUB (Brussels Free University), Optrima was founded in April 2009 after seven years of fundamental and applied research. A fab-less semiconductor company, Optrima has been granted a number of patents in the area of CMOS 3D time-of-flight (TOF) sensor and imager technologies.

Optrima is now a leading provider of hardware solutions for 3D gesture recognition. With its unique 3D CMOS TOF sensors and 3D imager systems, Optrima’s technology offers dramatic improvements in the efficiency, power consumption, robustness and high-volume industrialization of 3D gesture-based interfaces.
